About Me

Hello, internet!

I’m Maggie, an MD/PhD student at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (University of Western Ontario, UWO) in London, Canada! I am originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario, where I studied at Lakehead University for my HBSc Psychology degree. In 2018, I moved to London/UWO for my MSc in Neuroscience, where I studied humor processing deficits in Parkinson’s disease patients.

Presenting part of my MSc project at Neuroscience Research Day 2019 in London, Ontario.

I started this blog because I wanted to address the internet knowledge gap I felt when applying for my MD/PhD. While there are so many resources about applying to MD programs, I felt a bit lost when preparing my MD/PhD application and when considering whether the program was right for me. I hope this blog can be a resource for anyone applying for, or going through, graduate school, an MD program, or a combined MD/PhD program like me!

My MD/PhD program is 7 years long, and I will be completing my 3-year PhD first, followed by the 4-year MD program. I look forward to keeping up this blog along the way! I am always happy to help those who are looking for advice. If you are applying for or going through MD or MD/PhD programs or graduate school and need someone to chat with, please don’t hesitate to reach out by emailing me at callmedoctordoctor@gmail.com. Thanks for joining me on this journey to double doc degrees!
